How to Keep Balanced in Unpredictable Times

// Mindfulness in Daily Life //

Wake up to awareness. When you wake up in the morning ,and before jumping out of bed or checking your phone, bring attention to the sensations in your body. Explore, with curiosity, what your senses are telling you at that very moment.

  • Be grateful. While still in bed, identify and acknowledge three things you can be thankful for. Appreciate them bringing a smile to your face.
  • Taste your tea or coffee, as if it where the first time you have it. Take time to look, smell, taste and investigate the physical sensations of the liquid coming in contact with your lips and mouth.
  • Work mindfully. When sitting at work exercise single focus to the task at hand. Dedicate all your attention to it. Be sure you stand and have a good stretch every 40 minutes or so.
  • Nourish yourself.  Bring awareness to the choice of food and snacks that you consume during the day. Choose a variety of foods that provide the necessary nutrients to live, grow and have a good health.
  • Exercise. Weave into your day at least 30 minutes of mindful movements. It is important to activate the body and circulate the energy.
  • Take in the beauty. Beauty is everywhere, just waiting for you to discover it. All ordinary moments have beauty within them. Find it and let it fill up your senses. Absorb, slowly, what they report back to you.

As you have seen, the practice of mindful moments only requires from you to be willing to drop in the present. With practice, you will find it easier and easier to bring mindfulness into  the endless opportunities to exercise it in daily life.
